I’m afraid my intolerance begins with this kind of selfishness. She’s obviously trying to prove a point to herself, or others, at their expense. Most likely to herself, and it’s taking precedence over everyone else’s needs. This is just plain wrong, lacking in common decency, religious or not. People like her give good atheists like me a bad name. A caring, respectful mother would carry on the traditions for the sake of the family, but keep her own behavior secular. It’s quite doable, believe me.
